Welcome

It was decided that a unique way of uniting Mandalorians would be through language. So the Mandalorians decided to the language developed by Karen Traviss as the basis for the Mandalaorian language.

The Mandalorian language, Mando'a, is very important to Mandalorians as it is something unique that also unites all Mandalorians. It is very important for Mandalorians to learn Mando'a and to speak it to each other.

There are two forms of written Mando'a, both forms are spoken the same so there is only one form of spoken Mando'a. First there is full Mando'a. This uses the Mandalorian alphabet and spellings. The benefits of full Mando'a is that it appears much more unique. The drawbacks are that it is difficult to type out using standard English keyboards. It is best to use this form when making graphics, writing on paper, or typing documents on a personal computer. Since a certain font must be used it is best not to use this for websites. The second form is Half-Mando'a or Mand'lish. This is Mando'a but uses the English alphabet minus a few letters. Spellings are also different than full Mando'a because a different alphabet is used. The benefits of Mand'lish are that the language can be easily typed on the computer. The drawbacks are that it looks cheap and not very unique. It is best to use this form on the internet where English keyboards are easily available.

There are a few resources on the internet to help someone learn Mando'a. Someday a comprehensive Mando'a learning program may be available here. But for now various links to Mando'a learning sites or documents will be listed here:
