1. What is a Mandalorian?

A Mandalorian is someone who lives the Mandalorian lifestyle and is accepted as a Mandalorian by others who are Mandalorians. What is the Mandalorian lifestyle? In many aspects the Mandalorian lifstyle is the same as what you are living now but there are also differences. Mandalorians must apply the Code of the Mandalorians in their daily lives. They must also live by the Resol'nare, or Six Actions. A Mandalorian is someone who wants to improve themselves and the world that we all live in. Mandalorians support freedom and tolerance of all people regardless of gender, race, religion, etc.

2. What is an aliit or aliite?

The word aliit and aliite are words in the Mandalorian language, Mando'a>. The word aliit essentially means a large familial group. Since a large part Mandalorian family relationships include adoptions, the Mandalorian aliit includes not only those people related by blood, but also include those commited to eachother and those adopted into the group. Aliite is the plural form of aliit.

Some people use the term aliit to mean 'clan'. We find this usage acceptable seeing as the word 'clan' means:

1. A Celtic group esp. in the Scottish Highlands comprising a number of households whose heads claim decent from a common ancestor.
2. A group of people tracing decent from a common ancestor.
3. A group united by a common interest or common characteristics.

We do not accept the use of the word 'klan'as this would mean that our group is somehow a cult group. Read more about this in the next question.

3. Are the Mandalorians a Cult?

First of all to answer this question we need to define what a cult is. The definition of cult that most people use is this:

1. A religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.

Other terms that come to mind when thinking of a cult are Jonestown and Waco, Texas.

So to answer the question, No. The Mandalorians are not a cult. Firstly we are not a religion or sect. All Mandalorians have the right to choose whatever religion they wish so long as such religion doesn't promote hate. The Mandalorians also don't live in under the direction of a charismatic leader. The Mandalorians do have a leader called Mand'alor, but this leader is chosen by the people and elected into office. Mand'alor only holds this position as long and s/he holds the respect of the Mandalorians. If the Mandalorians decide that it is time for a new leader then a new Mand'alor is elected. Such democratic thinking is not found in cults.

But you use the term Clan?

The word 'clan' is not indicative of a cult, the word 'klan' is. The term 'clan' means a large family group. If the Mandalorians use the term 'clan' then that is what we mean, a large family group.

Also the Mandalorians support good values such as:

1. Strong family relationships.
2. Honour
3. Loyalty to each other.
4. Wisdom
5. Bravery
6. Tolerance of all people regardless of race, gender, or religion.
7. Support local communities.
8. Be faithful to your husband/wife, fiance/fiancee, and/or boyfriend/girlfriend.
9. Be active in the religion of your choice.
10. Give respect to others and to elders.

These values, don't seem to fit the description of false, unorthodox, or extremist. Now many people will still be wary simply becuase we call ourselves Mandalorian and the fictional Mandalorians come from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It is true, this inspiration for this group came from the fictional Mandalorians depicted in Star Wars. However we fully acknowledge that those Mandalorians are fictional. We don't think that we are those Mandalorians. We don't think that we need to fly around in jetpacks. We DO think that there are many aspects of the fictional Mandalorian culture that have real world applications. Many good values are seen in the fictional Mandalorian culture we seek to emulate these good principles in the real world.

The next question people would ask is, "If you don't think you are Mandalorians from Star Wars, then why do you call youselves Mandalorians?"

Since the culture we seek to emulate is Mandalorian, then it makes sense that we should call ourselves Mandalorians. If we were trying to emulate the Mongolian culture then we would call ourselves Mongolians. If we were trying to emulate the Samoan culture then we would call ourselves Samoans. Since we are emulating the Mandalorian culture we call ourselves Mandalorians.

4. Who can become a Mandalorian?

Anyone can become a Mandalorian. Mandalorians come from many different places and many different backgrounds. Unfortunatly most people think that to be a Mandalorian requires someone to be a Star Wars fan or a desire to live in a fantasy Star Wars land. This is untrue and it is too bad that many people feel this way. While some Mandalorians have some intrest in Star Wars, very few, if any, want to live in some Star Wars fantasy land with blasters and lightsabers. And all the People who are Mandalorians recognized and understand that a Star Wars fantasy land with blasters and lightsabers is not only impossible, but undesirable. Actually all Mandalorians want to make their lives and the world better, right here right now in the real world.

The most import thing about being a Mandalorian is wanting to be part of the group, willing to embrace the new-fashioned Mandalorian values and a desire to make the world a better place.

5. Are you guys serious?/Is this for real?

The Mandalorians are quite real and a few Mandalorian groups have been in the works for over three years. Just because you didn’t hear about it in the news doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

The Mandalorians truely believe in the values set forth in this website. We also believe that these values can benefit not only ourselves but the world in general.

6. Why would I want to be a Mandalaorian?

A big reason why people should become Mandalorians is that they will become part of a group of people who want to make the world a better place. They also want to promote freedom and tolerence. Being a Mandalorian doesn't interfere with the regular lives of the people who are Mandalorians; if anything it helps improve their lives. You should want to become a Mandalorian because you should want to be a better human being and you should want to help make the world a better, safer, and more united place.

7. Do you guys wear Boba/Jango Fett armour?

We do not wear the armour that is worn by the fictional characters shown in the Star Wars movies.

8. How do Boba/Jango Fett relate to your culture?

Many people incorrectly assume that we are some kind of fanatics that believe these fictional characters, Boba/Jango Fett, to be real. Other people think that we worship them. However to us Boba/Jango Fett are merely fictional characters seen in a movie. Their place in our culture is just that, fictional characters in a movie.

9. How can I live as a Mandalorian?

All Mandalorians must apply Mandalorian principles in their current lifestyles.

To live as a Mandalorian one must apply the Code of the Mandalorians and the Resol'nare, Six Action, in ones life.

A person wishing to live as a Mandalorian should review the culture of the Mandalorians and strive to live by this culture in all they do.

10. Won’t George Lucas sue you guys?

It is true that anyone who tries to make money off of Star Wars is ruthlessly pursued by George Lucas’ lawyers. However, we feel safe from any action. The reason we feel this way is because we aren’t making any money off Star Wars. We aren’t making any money off the name Mandalorian. We are simply a group of individuals who want to live by a certain set of ideals to better ourselves and society.
